Nick Bundle completed specialty training in public health and the EPIET-associated UK Field Epidemiology Training Programme in London, UK. He moved to Stockholm in 2018 to ECDC where he has worked in the vaccine preventable diseases and respiratory virus teams. He was involved full time in the COVID-19 response from early 2020 and was responsible for developing many of ECDC’s public-facing COVID-19 surveillance outputs and data analyses. In his current position as Principle Expert in the respiratory virus section he coordinates the weekly EU-level surveillance of acute respiratory infections due to influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and RSV, working closely with the WHO Regional Office for Europe and experts from 30 EU/EEA Member States. He co-developed the joint ECDC-WHO/EURO European Respiratory Virus Surveillance Summary (https://erviss.org/) and is the ECDC project manager for EuroMOMO (https://www.euromomo.eu/), hosted by Statens Serum Institut, Denmark. His is currently leading the development of updated respiratory virus surveillance technical guidance, for which he has established a European working group focused on the linkage between surveillance objectives/data and public health prevention measures, right-sizing and the use of thresholds. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.
