Jorge del Diego holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery, a PhD from the University of Málaga, is specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health and also belongs to the State Medical Officers Corps. His professional experience includes positions such as General Director of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Deputy General Director of Public Health and Adviser in the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Health —both at the Ministry of Health of Spain— as well as National Head of the Preventive Medicine Department of the ASISA Group.
He also has international experience, having worked as a consultant for the WHO (based in Sierra Leone), for the ECDC based in Austria, and for the PAHO in Costa Rica. Jorge del Diego combines university teaching in master’s programs with speaking engagements at national and international scientific events. He is currently Senior Adviser to the Directorate-General for Public Health and Health Equity at the Ministry of Health of Spain.
